More than 100,000 Kids Reached Through My Smile Matters Campaign

To celebrate Dental Hygiene Month in October, America’s ToothFairy launched a month-long awareness campaign to highlight why smiles matter for overall good health and success in life, and the value dental hygienists bring to the health of children.

The My Smile Matters campaign made available free downloadable resources including educational materials and a robust social media kit as well as several awareness activities throughout the month. The campaign was sponsored by Dentsply Sirona, Darby Dental, and The Brewer Company and received special promotion by its Official Media Sponsor, RDH Magazine.

More than 100,000 kids were reached using the campaign’s educational materials, which included activity sheets for kids and informational handouts for children and their caregivers.

Khairunisa Hasmani and her colleagues at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry in Houston, TX had fun participating in the My Smile Matters campaign and shared this pic with their Smiley tees from World Smile Day on October 7th!

In addition to individuals who care about the oral health of kids, 35 schools/school districts, 31 dental offices, 30 health departments and health advocacy organizations, and 5 social media management companies accessed the free social media kit. Each week focused on different aspects of the campaign including why smiles matter for overall good health, the unexpected ways dental hygienists help kids be healthier, oral health and dietary tips, warnings about the worst candy for teeth and fun Halloween tips.

Participants were invited to wear their campaign tee on World Smile Day and share why their smile matters to them throughout the month with #MySmileMatters.

The campaign also recognized five outstanding dental hygienists who go above and beyond to help underprivileged kids in America have healthy smiles. Each winner received a prize package that included America’s ToothFairy swag and an Aquarius® Water Flosser from Waterpik.

A handful of My Smile Matters Challenge participants raised enough money to provide toothbrushes for 275 kids in need and challenged their friends to donate toothbrushes to their local food bank.

Thank you to everyone who participated!
