Virtual Smile Drive Provides Toothbrushes for Kids Living in Poverty

COVID-19 may have slowed down our Smile Drive volunteers, but it didn't stop them! Thanks to those who collected monetary donations online through our Virtual Smile Drive campaign during the shutdown, and a matching donation from SmileMakers, 50,000 kids in need received dental hygiene supplies to help keep them healthy! We were happy to donate toothbrushes to 28 organizations serving at-risk populations in addition to our Dental Resource Program members.

One of those organizations is The Little Bit Foundation, who attempts to break the cycle of poverty in St. Louis, Missouri through education, while simultaneously providing basic needs and instruction in personal and dental hygiene to children in need. They have a reach of 14,000 students. Thanks to our Virtual Smile Drive donors, 336 of the kids they serve have also received a toothbrush to help them prevent the pain and embarrassment of tooth decay!
