Across the United States, millions of children lack access to basic oral health care. In states like Alabama, Mississippi, West Virginia, and Kentucky, dental provider shortages and economic barriers make preventive care out of reach for many families. When kids don’t have access to regular dental visits, even small cavities can progress into painful infections that disrupt sleep, make eating difficult, and lead to missed school days.
At America’s ToothFairy, we believe every child deserves a healthy smile. By connecting with trusted community partners, we can reach families who might never visit a dental office and help them take simple steps to prevent tooth decay at home. That’s why we were thrilled to partner with Boka, a modern oral care company with a passion for prevention, to provide Storytime Smiles oral health education kits for libraries across the nation.

Thanks to Boka’s generous support—including a product donation valued at $54,400 and an additional $25,000 contribution—we equipped 50 libraries across 20 states nationwide with superhero-themed Storytime Smiles education kits. Each kit provided resources for children and parents, including oral health activity booklets, bilingual tips bookmarks, parent brochures, and superhero capes and masks, a dental-themed storybook, and supplies for families in need. Together, we helped 5,000 children learn how to protect their teeth from decay and distributed toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss to 3,000 kids who otherwise might have gone without.
Librarians embraced the chance to teach kids about healthy habits in fun, creative ways:
“The costumes were a fun twist to be a dental superhero,” shared Crystal Hooper from Somerset County Library in New Jersey. “It was nice to get a real kid’s dentist to host the story.”
“Our state began requiring a dental assessment for kids before they start school,” added Jessica Keeler of Detroit Public Library. “This has been a great way to help with that.”
By combining engaging storytelling with practical tools, Storytime Smiles reaches children where they learn and play, while reinforcing the message that good oral health is essential for overall wellness. Families left story hours with smiles on their faces—and with the supplies and knowledge they need to keep those smiles healthy for life.
We’re grateful to Boka for helping us make oral health education accessible to families in underserved communities and for showing what’s possible when brands and nonprofits work together to improve children’s health.
