America's ToothFairy Helps Arkansas Communities Learn About Nutrition and Oral Health.

Good nutrition and proper oral health go hand-in-hand. Likewise, low-income families that deal with food insecurity may also lack oral health literacy and access to basic oral hygiene products. That's why we've partnered with nutrition programs across the state of Arkansas to teach SNAP and WIC participants about proper nutrition and oral health!

Through our Arkansas Oral Health Zone Program, America's ToothFairy is working with nutrition programs across the state, including Arkansas Coalition for Obesity Prevention's Double Up Food Bucks, Cooking Matters at the Store, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Women Infant and Children (WIC) specialists to reach the families they serve. SNAP and WIC participants who visit their local farmer's market will receive tours to find budget and tooth-friendly foods, and receive oral health education materials. WIC participants who complete the tour can receive nutrition education credit, free toothbrushes and other oral care items for children at their local WIC office.

Funding for this project was provided by Delta Dental of Arkansas. To learn more about ways to partner with America's ToothFairy to help underserved communities, email info@ncohf.org.
